WordPress version 5.0 (scheduled for release late November 2018) will include a completely new Editor (called Gutenberg), as well as a new 2019 theme (based around Gutenberg).
Most websites should continue to work OK (from a users perspective at least) once you have updated to WP5.0… however when you go to edit pages or posts, you will have a VERY different editing experience. There may also be compatibility issues with some themes and plugins (particularly if you use WooCommerce or “Page Builder” type plugins).
We recommend that you hold of upgrading to WP5.0 for now and wait a while until things stabilise.
But there are some things that you should do to ensure that the transition to WP 5.0 runs smoothly.
This workshop will address the things that you should be doing to prepare your site for Gutenberg. This includes :
- Checking Theme/Plugin compatibility
- Updating your Theme
- Updating your Plugins
- Creating a Test
- Updating WP to V 5.0
- Reverting to the Classic Editor
Please Contact Us to check on availability, confirm this workshop will suit your needs, or register to attend.
(Note: we are also running a “How to Use Gutenberg” workshop immedialtly following this wokshop… if you attend both you get a discount of $30 +GST)
